Sponge Cake

Sockerkaka

  • 6 Eggs, separated
  • 1/2 C. Cold Water
  • 1 1/2 C. Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
  • 1 1/4 C. Sifted Flour
  • 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • 3/4 C. Walnuts, chopped
  • 3/4 tsp. Cream of Tartar

Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon yellow color. Add water. Continue beating. Beat in sugar. Add vanilla. Fold in flour, cinnamon, salt, and nuts. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff. Fold egg yolk mixture into egg whites. Pour into ungreased tube cake pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 60 to 65 minutes. Turn upside down and cool.
