Sugar Cookies

  • 1 1/2 C. Sugar
  • 1 C. Shortening (1/2 C. Crisco and 1/2 C. Butter or Margarine)
  • 1/4 tsp. Baking Soda in 3/4 C. Sour Cream
  • 2 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 3 Eggs, well beaten
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 2 1/2 C. Flour

Cream shortening and sugar well, then add eggs and beat until light. Add sour cream and baking soda mix, dry ingredients, and vanilla. Place on 11″ x 17″ jelly roll pan and bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Cool and cut into 2″ strips. Dry in 200 degree oven for 1 hour, turn up to 350 degrees to brown. Turn cookies over and brown other side.
