Creamed Rice

Served at the end of a meal of lutfisk and as a supper dish on Christmas Eve

  • 2 C. Water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. Butter
  • 1 C. White Rice
  • 1 C. Whipping Cream
  • Salt
  • Sugar

In a large saucepan bring water to boil. Add rice and butter. Simmer 20 minutes without stirring. Stir in whipping cream, let simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir now and then. Season to taste with salt and sugar. If too thick, add a little milk. Serve with sugar, cinnamon, and a pat of butter.

One single almond can be added. Whoever gets the almond will be married within 1 year.

If there is any cold grote left, mix with whipped cream and serve with fruit syrup or mandarin orange sections as dessert.
