- 1 C. Shortening (1/2 Crisco and 1/2 Butter)
- 2 C. Brown Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 1/2 C. Thick Sour Milk
- 3 1/2 C. Flour
- 1 tsp. Salt
- 1 tsp. Baking Soda
- 1 1/2 C. Broken Pecans + 36 Pecan Halves for top of cookies
- 2 C. Candied Cherries, cut in half (red and green)
- 2 C. Dried Fruit Mix (can substitute with Dates)
Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs. Add sour milk. Sift flour, soda, and salt. Stir in. Add chopped pecans, cherries, and fruit. Chill. Drop with teaspoon on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Place a pecan half on each one. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 7 dozen.
