Cardamom Braids

  • 2 packages Dry Yeast
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp. Crushed Cardamom Seed
  • 1/3 C. Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 C. Butter, melted
  • 6 C. Flour
  • 1 tbsp. Milk

Sprinkle yeast into 2 cups of warm water in a large mixing bowl. Let stand for 3 to 5 minutes. Stir. Add cardamom seed, 1 egg, sugar, salt, butter, and half of flour. Beat with a wooden spoon till smooth. Gradually add enough flour to make soft dough. Knead for 5 to 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl. Let rise 1 hour, or until doubled in size. Shape into 2 or 3 braids and let rise at least 30 minutes. Brush with the remaining beaten egg and milk. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 375 degrees. Cool before slicing.
