- 1/4 C. Shortening
- 1/4 C. Butter
- 1 1/2 squares Unsweetened Chocolate, melted
- 1 C. Brown Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
- 1 3/4 C. Flour
- 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
- 1/4 tsp. Salt
Mix shortening, butter, sugar, egg, chocolate, and vanilla thoroughly. Add dry ingredients. Form into long, smooth rolls that are about 2 inches across. Wrap in wax paper. Chill until firm. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Slice roll into 1/8 inch cookies. Place apart from each other on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
May refrigerate dough for one week or freeze.
